City Urges Residents to Trim Trees, Bushes

While some city residents are doing fall cleanup on their lawns, Whiteville officials are asking that they pay attention to their trees and bushes, too.

Whiteville Police said on social media today that bushes and trees are “out into the street” in some areas, striking vehicles and even interfering with the sightline at intersections. Some areas have trees that are obstructing the view of school buses and other large vehicles, creating hazardous situations.

When residents do not trim foliage that is causing a hazard, city officials can cut the bushes and trees and charge the property owner.

Trimmings should be piled on the city right of way – not the sidewalk or in the gutter – for leaf and limb pickup. Call 910.642.8046 for more information.
