Gregory Keith Prevatte, Jr. 47, of Southport NC went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, surrounded with love. Born April 15, 1978 in Bay City Texas, Gregory was a man dedicated to his craft, taking the most pride as being an unwavering remodeling contractor. His greatest life’s work and achievements could be shown through his hands through transformations of building and rebuilding.
He was known not only for his career, but for his generosity and for his love of his children and family. Growing up on the coast created a passion for the ocean and water for Gregory. In his younger years he loved surfing and scuba diving and with age turned into boating and fishing. He enjoyed cooking for others, sitting outside on the porch, gardening, and took pride in his yard. He had a heart for animals and loved his dogs, cat, and watching his birds In his backyard. Gregory was a man of his word and all those that knew him both in his community and personally, knew they could count on him to be present in times of need.
Gregory brought a light and laughter to a room with his words and comical sense of humor. His memory will forever live on in the hearts that he touched.
Gregory Keith Prevatte Jr. is survived by his daughter, Serena Williams of Minneapolis MN; former wife and friend, K-leigh Siler of Leland NC; mother, Tammy Warren of Southport NC; step mother Teresa Kenney of Southport NC; son, Joshua Johnson of Appomattox VA; Step daughters, Sara “Squish” Farris and Candice Farris of Leland NC; Step son, Caden Farris of Wilmington NC; Sister, April Prevatte Cain and husband Elivs Cain of Crusoe Island NC; Brother Kennith Prevatte of Southport NC; nephew Trenton Prevatte of Southport, nephew, Mitchel Cain of Crusoe Island NC, niece Hailee Prevatte Bortnick and husband Garrett Bortnick Southport NC, and niece Charleigh Baldwin of New Bern NC.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gregory Keith Prevatte Sr., paternal grandmother, Geneva “Cricket” Spencer, Aunt Beverly Prevatte, maternal grandparents, Alfred and Patricia Goewey.
The family of Gregory will arrange a celebration of life at a later date on the beach- OakIsland Pier on OakIsland, NC.
