Complaints about speeding drivers and suspicious activity in North Whiteville led to the arrests of two men by the sheriff’s office.
Bradley Jude Creech, 50, of 110 Frink St., Whiteville, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, fentanyl and drug paraphernalia, according to detention center reports. He was held under $10,000 secured bond.
Johnie Layton Hall, 42, was arrested on the same charges, plus failure to appear. His bond was set at $12,500. Court records show his address as 6599 Braswell Rd., Cerro Gordo.
The sheriff’s office said in a press release that multiple complaints from residents led to an investigation by the Heavy Enforcement Action Team (HEAT) in North Whiteville near old Lumberton Road. Deputies were patrolling a residential area near Old Lumberton and U.S. 701 North when they executed a traffic stop on a Ford Ranger pickup.
“During the stop, deputies discovered evidence consistent with drug possession and possible distribution,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
The release said the arrests were part of an ongoing effort to combat the sale and distribution of narcotics.
