A gunfight between a stepfather and stepson left one man dead and another in critical condition Monday in Chadbourn.
Police Chief Ken Elliott said Nathan McKinnies was dead at the scene, and an individual identified as his stepson sustained multiple gunshot wounds..
Officers were called to 710 Clark Street at 11:23 p.m. after a report of a shooting.
“Officers found two male patients suffering gunshot wounds,” Police Chief Ken Elliott said. “One (the stepfather) was deceased at the scene.”
The second individual was rushed to Novant New Hanover with critical injuries, Elliott said.
“This was an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public,” Elliott said.
