A gunfight between a stepfather and stepson left one man dead and another in critical condition Monday in Chadbourn.
Police Chief Ken Elliot said the names of the two men have not been released, pending family notification.
Officers were called to 710 Clark Street at 11:23 p.m. after a report of a shooting.
“Officers found two male patients suffering gunshot wounds,” Elliot said. “One (the stepfather) was deceased at the scene.”
The second individual was rushed to Novant New Hanover with critical injuries, Elliot said.
“This was an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public,” Elliot said.
