Union Football Player Discharged

A Union High School football player airlifted to New Hanover Novant has been discharged with no serious injuries.

Play came to a halt last night at East Columbus as the Gators and Spartans went head to head. ECHS won the game, 24-12, marking their second victory out of a 17-game losing streak.

The Union player initially reported losing the feeling of the right side of his body, according to Lake Waccamaw Fire-Rescue Chief Ron Sasser. He was airlifted to the Wilmington hospital as a precaution.

Sasser said the player was released from the hospital today.
