The iconic Guiton’s Drug Store has a new name and management.
Whiteville Family Pharmacy held a ribbon cutting Wednesday. The downtown staple with one of the last remaining soda and ice cream fountains in the state welcomed members of the Chamber of Commerce and downtown business community to the event Wednesday. Angela Soles was manager of Guiton’s before purchasing the 1928 pharmacy in December.
Soles has retained the same friendly customer service as well as the soda fountain, where thousands of customers have enjoyed hand-dipped milkshakes, homemade orangeades and old fashioned fountain drinks for decades.
