Area Soccer Roundup: Eagles, Pack, Gators Win; Stallions, Vikings Fall

In Elizabethtown Wednesday, East Bladen recovered from a slow first half start to beat North Duplin 3-1.

The Eagles (5-2-1, 8-5-3) got goals from Jayce Hatcher, Layden Scott, and Damian Sanchez.

“I challenged the guys at halftime,” East Bladen Coach Jay Raynor stated. “We play it way too safe sometimes.”

North Duplin got its only score from Esdras Lopez.

“I’m truly impressed with our entire team. They have been working real hard and there has been incredible effort. Every one of those kids are special and a blessing to a coach,” Raynor said.

East Bladen will face Union (6-2, 11-5) in a key Carolina Conference matchup on Oct. 15. North Duplin (2-5-2, 2-6-2) will host Hobbton (5-1-1, 6-7-1) on Oct. 13.

At Boiling Springs, Whiteville squeezed by South Brunswick 1-0 in overtime. The Wolfpack move to 3-2 in the Southeastern Conference and 6-10-2 overall on the season.

South Brunswick goes to 4-2 in the conference and 8-7-3 overall. Whiteville will visit Red Springs (4-1, 9-6) on Oct. 20. South Brunswick will host South Columbus (0-4, 1-12) on Oct. 15.

In The Swamp, East Columbus blanked West Columbus 3-0. East Columbus is now 3-4-1 in the Carolina Conference and 5-6-1 overall. They will take on Union (6-2, 11-5) on Oct. 13. West Columbus (0-9, 0-10) will host Hobbton (5-1-1, 6-7-1) on Oct. 15.

In Tabor City, South Columbus fell to Red Springs 5-1.  Red Springs currently leads the Southeastern Conference with a 4-1 record and 9-6 overall. They will travel to Dublin on Oct.14 to face West Bladen (1-3, 3-9-1). The Stallions, now 0-4 in the Southeastern Conference and 1-12 overall, will go to West Bladen on Oct. 15.
