Deputies recovered 70 shell casings Friday from a reported drive by shooting on Clyde Norris Road. Witnesses described two male and one female subject who stopped in the roadway and fired multiple shots. The suspects vehicle was identified as the gray Dodge Charger spotted at a Brunswick County homicide Friday. The incident is under investigation.
Cleanup is continuing after flash flooding hit Whiteville and Chadbourn Sunday and Monday. A coastal storm dumped from 6-9 inches of rain across Columbus County over the weekend. Most of Chadbourn was flooded at one point Sunday night. Several businesses along Frazier and Pecan Streets in Whiteville had more than a foot of water inside, our CCN office on S. Madison Street took on water, our friends at the Donut Shop and Murf’s Pawn had measurable water damage as well.
