No contraband was found but an early morning drone flight over Columbus Correctional caught the eye of law enforcement Tuesday.
The sheriff’s office said that prison officials spotted to drone around 7 a.m. and contacted law enforcement. A search of the grounds turned up no sign of items of anything being dropped inside the prison perimeter, the report said.
The report said the drone was spotted heading toward a nearby church, but deputies found no sign of an alleged operator.
Prisons are “no fly” zones for drones, since they can be used to drop items like weapons, illegal drugs and tobacco in areas where inmates can access them.
