Deputies arrested a woman after she allegedly violated a restraining order and tried to bring narcotics into the county detention center.
Jessica Akins, 36, of 111 Barbcrest Dr., Whiteville, was charged with possession of heroin and methamphetamine, possession of narcotics at a jail, drug paraphernalia, and violating a domestic violence protection order. Her bond was set at $70,000 secured, according to jail records.
Akins was found at the Walgreen’s store on Powell Boulevard after deputies were informed of an ankle monitor notification. She was taken into custody in the parking lot of the pharmacy without incident.
While she was being processed, Akins allegedly attempted to conceal a full syringe, along with small quantities of heroin and methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The contraband was seized and additional charges taken against her.
