Pack Pounds West Bladen 34-7

The Wolfpack welcomed West Bladen Friday, but the Knights ended up having a long ride home to Dublin.
WHITEVILLE— The Whiteville Wolfpack got back on the right track after a Clinton upset by cruising past West Bladen Friday night 34-7.
The Pack didn’t waste any time, going five plays and forty yards on the first drive to go up 7-0 with 11:18 still in the first quarter.
Shipman ran it in from six yards out and Price Wheatley added the extra point. West Bladen got the following kickoff and drove it down to the Whiteville four-yard line, thanks to a 65-yard run by Isaiah Robinson. Whiteville’s defense stiffened and held the Knights on four downs on first and goal at the four-yard line. Whiteville took advantage of its tight defense and took the ball 99 yards, capped off by six-yard run by Layton McLean. Wheatley added the extra point and gave the Pack a 14-0 lead with 3:30 left to go in the first quarter.
West Bladen’s following drive was four and out led by a sack from Sam McBride. The Knights punted to the Wolfpack and five plays later Josh Lacewell ran it in from the one to give Whiteville a 21-0 lead with a Wheatley PAT early in the second quarter. Whiteville added to their lead with 1:39 left in the first half when McLean found Corey Faison in the end zone from 31-yards out to put the Pack up 28-0.
West Bladen showed life in the second half driving the ball from their own 35 yard-line to the Wolfpack 12-yard line only to be intercepted by the Packs Colin Hooks with 7:14on the clock in the third quarter. Whiteville went down the field capped off with a four-yard touchdown run from Sabeyhon Shipman to put the Wolfpack ahead 34-0. West Bladen got its lone score in the fourth quarter with a one-yard TD run from Ahmarie White to make 34-7 Wolfpack.
Whiteville, now 1-0 in the Southeastern Conference and 4-2 overall, grounded out 227 yards rushing while Layton McLean passed for 138 yards and a touchdown. The Wolfpack will host South Brunswick (1-0, 4-2) next Friday. West Bladen’s Isaiah Robinson led the Knights with 98 yards on 8 carries. The Knights (0-1, 2-4) will host Fairmont (0-1, 0-6) to face the Tornadoes.
