ELIZABETHTOWN — Whiteville defeated the Lady Eagles of East Bladen 8-1 in tennis Wednesday.
The Wolfpack have improved vastly during the season, but Coach Serena Smith was gracious in the victory.
“It was a very competitive match,” she said. “The score does not reflect how competitive the Eagles really were. It was great play for both teams.”
After starting the season 0-6-1, Whiteville has won four out of the last seven matches. The Wolfpack improves to 4-9-1 on the season. They will host South Columbus (7-3) on Thursday. East Bladen falls to 1-5 for the season. The Eagles have no other matches scheduled.
