With several local football teams in the playoffs, basketball schedules are going to be confusing over the next week. With that in mind, here is your local roundup:
East Bladen Girls 57 North Brunswick 40
LELAND — East Bladen’s Lady Eagles got off to a good start in defense of their 1A Eastern title with a 57-40 victory over North Brunswick Thursday night. Ariel Cromartie paced the Eagles with 26 points. Sana’a Singletary chipped in 18 for the victory. The Eagles took a five point advantage into the half, but got the offense rolling and then with defensive pressure, outscored the Scorpions 28-12 in the second. Valentina Espinal led the Scorpions (0-2) with 17 points in the loss.
East Bladen moves to 1-0 on the season.

North Brunswick Boys 59 East Bladen 16
LELAND — North Brunswick took advantage of a short-handed East Bladen squad to throttle the Eagles 59-16 Thursday night in basketball.
East Bladen has a few key members of their team still playing in the 2A football playoffs. The Eagles were never in the game Thursday. The Scorpions jumped out to a 25-1 first quarter advantage and cruised to a 45-6 halftime advantage.
The Eagles fall to 1-0 to start the season. North Brunswick goes to 2-0.
West Brunswick Boys 75 South Columbus 41
SHALLOTTE — West Brunswick jumped out to quick lead on South Columbus on their way to a 75-41 victory Thursday night.
Matthew McKenney led the Trojans with 23 points, going 8-9 from the field with three long range bombs. Junior Jerrison Dixon also had 21 points with five 3-pointers, and Kveon Griffen filled up the stat sheet with 10 points, seven rebounds, and nine assists. The Trojans were 8 of 13 from the arc.
West Brunswick (1-0) goes to North Myrtle Beach on Friday. South Columbus (0-1) will face county rival East Columbus on Nov. 25.
West Brunswick Girls 65 South Columbus 15
SHALLOTTE–South Columbus let a bad first quarter get worse as the Lady Stallions fell to West Brunswick 65-15 Thursday night.
West Brunswick jumped out on the Stallions 18-9 in the first quarter and then proceeded to outscore South Columbus 47-6 for the remainder of the game. West Brunswick moves to 1-0 on the season. Trinity Strickland led the Stallions (0-1) with eight points in the loss.
Union Girls 57 West Bladen 37
DUBLIN – Union started its season on the road, but it wasn’t a problem for the Spartans as they defeated the West Bladen Lady Knight 57-37 on Thursday night.
The Knights kept it close at the end of the first quarter 10-7 and stayed within five to eight points through the third quarter, only to have Union pull away in the end.
Centavia McKoy led the Spartans with 26 points and Zadariyah Faison chipped in 18 points. Natalee Sykes led the Knights with 13 points. Union moves to 1-0 on the season. West Bladen (0-2) will host West Columbus on Friday.
