Area Soccer Playoffs: Knights Win, Pack, Knights Fall


In Elizabethtown, No. 10 seed East Bladen opened the 2A playoffs in grand fashion as the Eagles cruised past Roxboro Community Bulldogs 6-0 on Tuesday.

Ishaq Algozy led the Eagles with two goals and two assists. Android Garvia, Landyn Scott, Davion Lewis, and Miguel Ventura also scored goals in the victory, moving East Bladen’s record to 14-6-4 on the season. The Eagles will travel to No. 7 seed Raleigh Charter (10-6-3) on Thursday. Roxboro Community finishes it season at 1-16-2.

At Robbins, No. 20 seed West Bladen fell 5-3 to North Moore (7-7-1) in the opening round of the 3A playoffs. The Mustangs took the early lead on a Rafael Romero goal, but West Bladen’s Kevin Sebastian and Jonah Bryan scored goals to tie the game 2-2 at the half.

North Moore regained the lead early in the second half but the Knights tied the game 3-3 with just under 21 minutes to play on a Johnathan Ortiz goal. That ended the offense for the Knights as the Mustangs scored twice more for the victory. West Bladen season ends at 7-11-1.

In Warsaw, No. 22 seed Whiteville saw its season end with a 4-1 defeat to James Kenan in the first round of the #3A playoffs. Paxton Bass scored a goal and Price Wheatley had an assist for the Pack in the loss. James Kenan (10-9-2) will travel to Princeton (14-7) on Thursday for their second-round matchup.
