Here’s today’s Bottom Line

Cold rain. That’s the rule for today as low pressure lifts quickly northeast along the coast. Rain should start to become intermittent and showery after lunchtime today, eventually ending by this evening.

Rain totals should generally be 1-2 inches across the county. I don’t expect any widespread flooding; however, nuisance flooding of the typical low-lying and poor-drainage areas can be expected today.

Everything comes to an end this evening as a cold front sweeps across the area, pushing all precipitation north and east. Colder air will rush in behind the front and some patchy black ice is possible first thing Wednesday morning… but I think that’ll be an exception more than the rule.

We dry out Wednesday and Thursday as high pressure settles in. Temperatures will run cooler than seasonal normal values through the period.

The next southern stream system takes shape for Friday into Saturday. Moisture starts to lift “up and over” cool air wedged in place at the surface on Friday. This leads to the outbreak of rain Friday afternoon. Low pressure then tracks north/east along the coast Friday night through Saturday bringing another cold, soaking rainfall to the area. There are still some question-marks with regards to the storm track, but ultimately we’re going to stay warm enough that we stay all rain. The system pulls away Saturday afternoon with improving conditions for Sunday.
