FOCUS Reports Scam Calls

Scammer are trying to collect personal information from FOCUS Broadband customers, the company said in a press release today.

“We have received reports that customers are receiving unsolicited phone calls claiming to be from Spectrum ns falsely claiming that they are associated with FOCUS Broadband,” the release said.

The scammers attempt to get FOCUS account information which is then used to cancel or switch service to other providers.

FOCUS said that all legitimate phone calls will come from the 910 area code with Brunswick county prefix, 754 or 755. The company does not use toll free numbers to make outbound calls, the release said.

“We will never tell you that you are required to switch to a different Internet company. We will never ask for your personal or account information over unsolicited calls,” the release said. “We do not partner with Spectrum to provide Internet service.”

Customers should simply hang up if they receive a suspicious call, the release said. Actual numbers for FOCUS can be found on their website, focusbroadband.com. Customers can also call 888.367.2862 or 910.754.4311 for more information.
