West Brunswick Boys 61, South Columbus 24

TABOR CITY—West Brunswick used smothering defense in shutting down South Columbus in boys’ basketball Thursday Night 61-24.

The Trojans held the Stallions to single digits in the last three quarters, giving up only three, two, and seven points in each of the last three quarters. Kveon Griffen led the Trojans with 15 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists. Matthew McKenney added 14 points in the win.

West Brunswick (12-6) will travel to Leland to face North Brunswick (13-4) tonight, while South Columbus (0-3, 5-8) will get back into conference play at West Bladen (3-0, 12-5).

Clinton Boys 64, East Bladen 59

CLINTON—Clinton held off a late Eagles rally to defeat East Bladen in boys’ basketball 64-59.

East Bladen had cut an eight-point lead to three points 62-59 with seconds remaining on the clock, only to have Holden Spell hit two free throws to seal the victory. The win pushes the Dark Horse record to 9-5 on the season.

Jaden Bell led the Dark Horses with 14 points, while teammates Jaiden Howard and Taylen Moore added 13 points each. Tevin McLean led the Eagles with 24 points while Keyshawn Kemp added 20 points. Clinton will host Heide Trask (10-6) tonight. East Bladen (4-2, 4-12) will travel to Hobbton (3-3, 5-9) on Tuesday.

CLINTON—Ciara Stuart poured in 18 points Thursday night to lead Clinton past East Bladen in girls’ basketball 67-52.

The win leaves the Dark Horses undefeated on the season with a 15-0 record.

Rubi Davila added 15 points in the win. The Dark Horse will host Heide Trask (7-8) tonight.

Sana’a Singletary led the Eagles with 20 points while teammate Niyah Wooten added 10 points. East Bladen (13-4) will travel to Hobbton (0-6, 0-6) on Tuesday for a Carolina Conference game.
