Multiple Child Sex Charges Filed

Daniel Cox (CCSO)

Detectives have charged a man with multiple counts of having sex with a minor over an extended period of time.

Daniel Cox, 35, is being held without bond in the county detention center. Warrants and jail records show he is charged with multiple counts of statutory sex offense, second degree forcible sex offense, intentional child abuse inflicting serious injury, and sex act by a substitute parent. He was taken into custody by the sheriff’s office Thursday.

Cox is alleged to have forced the girl to have sex on several occasions, most recently on Jan. 16. The molestation began when the girl was 11 and allegedly continued until recently. Warrants also show that Cox inflicted “serious physical injury, mental trauma due to physical and sexual abuse,” on the girl. On Jan. 15, according to warrants, Cox assaulted the girl, leaving bruises on her face, back and arms.
