We hope everyone is staying warm during these cold winter days. We know that each season has its purpose and many are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the purpose-filled spring, which is only 51 days away!
In this week’s column, we would like to focus on a few of this year’s events, so get those pens ready to mark your calendars.
First up is the GTCCC’s 80th Annual Banquet. The date is Tuesday, Feb. 17, the location is the Todd House Wedding and Event Center (102 Live Oak Street in Tabor City), the time is 6:30 p.m., and the cost per person is $30. Invitations are in the mail; however, you do not need an invitation to attend.
The theme of the 80th Annual Banquet is “Today’s Youth – Tomorrow’s Leaders”. We have a responsibility to teach and guide our young adults as they prepare to enter the workforce. This brings us to the speaker for the banquet.
The Guest Speaker for February 17th’s Annual Banquet is Tabor City’s Bradley Bell. Bradley currently serves as the Membership Chair of the Tabor City Committee of 100. Last year, he shared an idea of an internship program to benefit high school students. Join us on Tuesday Feb. 17 for an exciting and informative presentation from Bell and his guests.
Please save the date. We look forward to having you join us in the banquet hall of the Todd House Wedding and Event Center at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $30 per person, which includes a delicious meal catered by MacDaddy’s BBQ & Country Cooking. You do not want to miss this!
Call 910-377-3012 to reserve your seat today.
Our second event of the year will take place on Saturday, March 28. We look forward to seeing all of our area kids at Tabor City School at 10 a.m. for the Annual Easter Egg Hunt! Rain Date is Sunday, March 29 with time to be determined.
The Easter Egg Hunt in Tabor City is a partnership between Columbus County Parks and Recreation and the Greater Tabor City Chamber of Commerce. We enjoy serving as the Volunteer Bunny in Tabor City.
Excitement is growing as we get closer to our third event of the year which is the Sixth Annual Spring Has Sprung Festival to be held on Saturday, April 4, the first Saturday in April.
We are counting on you to help us continue to grow the Spring Has Sprung Festival. We already have several vendors signed up with more to come. The Car Show will return as will live entertainment and Flimsy the Clown.
The decision has been made to not have the Spring Has Spring Festival parade this year. The parade has not been supported with entries, so it has been tabled. We would love to have it in 2027, if enough interest is shown. Reach out to us if you would support a parade in the future, but we are not attempting to have one this year.
If you would like to be a vendor, please call us at 910.377.3012 or send us an email to tccofc@yahoo.com.
As we have kept mentioning, the United States of America is celebrating 250 years of independence this year. There will be magnificent celebrations held all around our nation and we will part of that. We plan to ramp up the Annual Columbus County Fireworks Celebration which will be held on Saturday the Fourth of July. We need your help.
The Columbus County Fourth of July Celebration which will once again be organized by your Greater Tabor City Chamber of Commerce. We will be reaching out to Tabor City and to the rest of our county for sponsorships to make the fireworks display of the Columbus County Fourth of July Celebration absolutely spectacular and to increase the entertainment and more.
Please be aware that the amount of sponsorships have pretty much remained the same as the cost of pyrotechnics continues to increase. That means in order to have more pyro to light up the sky, we must increase sponsorships. This year we will reach out to more businesses and organizations throughout the county as we celebrate our 250th birthday. You don’t need to wait, we will accept sponsorships now. Every dollar donated helps.
We can always use more event volunteers. Please call us at 910.377.3012 if you are interested and willing to put in some time and effort. We work hard, but it is very rewarding.
Should you wish to become a member of this Chamber of Commerce, please contact us by email at tccofc@yahoo.com or by phone at 910.377.3012 or 910.840.0292. We look forward to hearing from you.
Our days and hours of operation are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 11:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Please know that these hours will continue until further notice.
Remember that we are “Stronger Together” and Today’s Youth will be Tomorrow’s Leaders.
