As we prepare for the cold, Columbus County Government and Columbus County News have some tips for protecting yourself and your loved ones.
People, Pets, and Pipes
Check on your elderly, neighbors who may need extra help with running an errand or getting their driveway/steps prepared for ice.
Pets
Get your furry friends inside if possible! Make sure outdoor animals have hay, a warm place to go, and warming lamps. Give plenty of food and water under warming lamps to keep it from freezing if possible.
Pipes
Prepare your Pipes! Wrap outdoor faucets and insulate them. Drip indoor sinks. Open cabinets. Our friends at Columbus County Government have compiled a list to help with preparation. See image:
Make sure you have food or a way to cook if power is interrupted. If you go out to prepare please be kind to retail workers and each other. We are all in this together!
