Ball Game and Family Day to Honor Jacobs

Gary Landyn Jacobs may be gone, but his family, friends, and the community will certainly not let his memory be forgotten. The Landyn Jacobs Memorial Foundation will be hosting an event to honor the legacy of the rising East Columbus senior while doing something that he loved.

The Landyn Jacobs Memorial Baseball Game and Family Day will be held on Feb. 21 at East Columbus Junior/Senior High School.

Registration for the ball game and concessions will be available starting at 12 p.m. Waivers must be signed to play. A speaker and the unveiling of the memorial for Landyn will be at 1 p.m., the pregame will be at 1:30 p.m. with the singing of the National Anthem, and the first pitch will be at 1:50 p.m. The game will begin at 2 p.m.

Baseball players that played and graduated from East Columbus, and parents of current East Columbus players can participate. The high school can be found at 32 Gator Lane in Lake Waccamaw.

Jacobs passed away in a car crash in August of 2025 while on his way to work. He is the late son of Lake Waccamaw mayor, Greg Jacobs.

The foundation was created by his family and friends in celebration of Landyn’s life. Their  mission is to raise funds through charitable donations and community events in order to provide financial support, resources, and services that address local community needs.
