Here’s today’s Bottom Line:

Today will be another unseasonably warm … and rather humid day across the area. A few spotty showers are possible, but they should be just that — few and far between. Other scattered showers are possible much farther to our north.

Temperatures will once again push into the middle and possibly upper 70s across the area depending on how much sunshine we get. I believe we’ll get a decent amount of sunshine mixed in with the cloudiness.

Friday will be a repeat with regards to the mix of sunshine and clouds… I believe we’ll have a better chance for shower activity during the afternoon hours. Given enough sunshine, I still expect our temps to climb to around the 80-degree mark, which would be record territory.

A frontal system will move through the area this weekend, bringing much-needed rainfall and possibly even some thunderstorm activity to the area. Early model projections suggest around an inch of rain for the area… but this will not be enough to trigger any flooding. While thunderstorms are possible, I’m not expecting anything severe.

The frontal system will also bring our “false spring” to a dramatic conclusion. A much colder air mass will build in behind the storm system, bringing temperatures down to well below normal levels. Highs Monday and Tuesday will struggle to reach the 50-degree mark despite full late-February sunshine. Lows Monday night/early Tuesday will likely dip into the upper 20s with wind chill readings dropping to around 20. Brrr.

The cold snap should be short-lived.
