Chase Lancaster was sworn in today (Thursday) as the new fire chief for Lake Waccamaw.
Lancaster has more than 20 years experience in firefighting, and said he looks forward to the challenges of the new job.
“My main goal is to be sure we safely provide top level service to the people of our district,” he said.
He said he will await a decision and direction from town leadership on EMS service. Lake Waccamaw’s commissioners voted recently to shut down the town’s EMS and contract with the county for emergency medical response.
“That’s the commissioner’s decision to make,” he said.
The new chief said he is eager to start work.
“I’ve had some great mentors in the past that helped prepare me for the future,” he said. “I just want to serve the people of Lake Waccamaw to the best of my abilities.”
