DEVELOPING STORY:
Whiteville Police and the State Bureau of Investigation are on the scene of a reported homicide.
Police were called to a physical therapy facility in the 700 block of North Thompson Street after someone called 911 around 5:30 a.m. An ambulance was on scene at 5:45 a.m., according to a witness.
The victim was female.
WPD Chief Paul Rockenbach said the victim was transported to Columbus Regional, where she succumbed to her injuries. A cause of death and the victim’s identity have not been released pending notification of kin, he said.
The incident is considered to be isolated.
