WHITEVILLE—Senior Layton McLean pitched three innings giving up one hit as the Wolfpack crushed Red Springs 12-0 in baseball Friday night.

Whiteville remains unbeaten at 8-0 in the Southeastern Conference with the win. Jake Odham had two hits and three runs batted in for Whiteville while Luke Merritt had two hits and three RBI’s also for the Pack.
Xzavier Sinclair had a hit for the Red Devils. Whiteville (8-0, 13-6) hosted county rival South Columbus (4-4, 9-10) while Red Springs faced Fairmont (2-6, 5-15) Tuesday. See related story.

TABOR CITY—Hunter Hester went 4-4 with a double and an RBI as West Bladen defeated South Columbus 8-3 in baseball Friday night.
It was the eighth straight win for the Knights as they move to 5-3 in Southeastern Conference and 16-6 on the year. West Bladen travelled to Boiling Springs on Tuesday to face South Brunswick (6-2, 14-7). South Columbus falls to 4-4 in the conference and 9-10 on the year. They faced Whiteville (8-0, 13-6) Tuesday. TABOR CITY—Kasey Cribb threw a two-hitter to lead South Columbus past West Bladen in softball on Friday night.
The loss hurt the Knights’ chances for the Southeastern Conference title. The Knights (6-2, 9-9) now sit two games back of South Brunswick (8-0, 16-4). The Knights face South Brunswick twice next week, needing to win both games for the title. South Columbus move to 5-3 in the conference and 7-11 overall. They faced county rival Whiteville (1-7, 2-12) on Tuesday. See related story.
