Officers tracked a larceny suspect across the county and arrested him for allegedly stealing a gun and a truck Monday.
Owen Trent Fowler, 21, of 1502 Chade Fisher Rd., Chadbourn, was held under $20,000 secured bond, charged with larceny of a firearm and larceny of a motor vehicle, according to Detention Center records.
The sheriff’s office said Fowler took a Chevrolet truck and Springfield 9mm handgun from Midway Road just before 9 p.m. Monday. The handgun was inside the truck, the report said.
Law enforcement tracked the truck to Joe Brown Highway South, where Fowler crashed. The Highway Patrol took him into custody without incident. The firearm was recovered and returned to the owner.
