State Forest Service investigators have charged a Whiteville-area man with intentionally setting three fires in February.
Jeremy Lynn Hayes, 42, of 2948 Smyrna Rd., Whiteville, is being held under $25,000 secured bond on three counts of setting fire to grasslands, brushlands and woodland, according to detention center records. He was processed at the county detention center Thursday afternoon.
According to warrants, Hayes is alleged to have set three fires along U.S. 74 between mile markers 233 and 235 on Feb. 26.
