Rape Suspect Held While Residency Checked

A rape suspect is being held in the county detention center while his residency status is confirmed.

Alfonso Hernandez-Sanchez, 18, of 410 Britton St., Whiteville, was arrested Thursday by Whiteville Police on a single charge of second degree forcible rape, according to Detention Center records. He was held under no bond.

The warrant shows that Hernadez is alleged to have forced a 17 year old female to have sex. The victim was under the influence of alcohol that Hernadez reportedly supplied, according to the warrant.

“(The) suspect did not stop sex when victim wanted to stop,” the warrant reads.

On the magistrate’s release order, the magistrate notes that it could not be determined if Hernandez is a citizen of the United States.

If Hernadez is determined to be in the country illegally or is under a detainer, he will be transferred to the custody of Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on demand of federal authorities.
