Jury selection begins next week in the brutal 2023 slaying of a Tabor City area woman.
Brandon Wayne Mincey, 44, was indicted by a grand jury for the first degree murder of Alissa Lee. The victim’s body was found under Heartbeat Bridge in Nakina on April 25, 2023.
Mincey was originally charged with being an accessory after the fact. The warrant showed that he “did knowingly assist (Lisa Jackson) in escaping detection, arrest and punishment by disposing of evidence in the murder of Alissa Lee.” The warrant said Mincey helped dispose of evidence in the case in early April. A Columbus County Grand Jury indicted him in August for murder, and he has been held without bond.
Jackson, Lee’s biological mother, has not been charged with any crime.
Witnesses said Mincey accompanied Jackson at the victim’s funeral, and offered condolences to other family members.
