Closing statements are underway today (June 12) in the first degree murder trial of Brandon Wayne Mincey.
Mincey, 44, is accused of killing Alissa Lee and disposing of her body off Heartbeat Bridge in April 2023. Lee’s body was dropped in the river sometime between April 5 and April 14 before being discover April 25, according to warrants and the sheriff’s office.
Mincey was originally charged as an accessory in the case. The original warrant said that he “knowingly” assisted Lee’s mother, Lisa Jackson, in “disposing of evidence.” The warrant did not specific what evidence. A Columbus County Grand Jury later indicted Mincey for murder. Jackson has not been charged.

Mincey reportedly accompanied Jackson to the funeral home during visitation before Lee’s final services. A witness said he offered condolences to the victim’s family members.
The trial began May 22 in Columbus County Superior Court.
