Here’s today’s Bottom Line
Unusually strong high pressure (with some of the strongest height values seen) will settle over the Carolinas late this week. Given the position of this high, absolutely no precipitation is going to occur through at least Sunday. On the other hand, DRY AIR will bring lower dewpoint values (lower relative humidity) keeping heat index values fairly close to the actual air temperature over the weekend… which will be in the 100-105 range.
Be prepared for this dangerous heat wave and take the proper precautions if you have outdoor plans for the holiday weekend.
TROPICS: A little area of low pressure has developed along the frontal boundary that moved through late Sunday. Contrary to what folks posted on social media, this a) is going to have absolutely no impact across the area, and b) is going to be moving into an area unfavorable for further development.
