Columbus County Partnership for Children recently awarded early childhood educators a total of $1,200 for continuing their higher education in the field.
“We proudly support teachers who have received educational incentives from CCPC as they pursue higher education and professional development,” said Dr. Selena Rowell, executive director of CCPC, “Their commitment to advancing their knowledge and skills strengthen the quality of education for preschoolers in our community. We are honored to invest in their continued success and leadership in the classroom.”
To receive a Professional Development Incentive Award, applicants must be enrolled in a higher education program, participate in technical assistance/coaching with CCPC quality childcare specialist Mary Williams, and provide an official transcript showing semester credit hours from an EDU class, for which they must have earned a “C” or better.
Recipients of the spring 2026 awards were Joy Jacobs Rector from Opening Doors Preschool II, Candy Green from Kid Kare Academy, Maytee Zaragoza and Norberta Lopez Guzman of Grow Early Learning, and Jessica Wade from Bri’s Caring Heart Childcare, who graduated with an associate degree in early childhood education.
“Receiving this award will help me continue my education and grow as an early childhood educator,” said Zaragoza. “It will reduce some of the financial burden of college, allowing me to focus on my studies while continuing to support young children and their families.”
Jacobs-Rector said that the award makes her “feel valued.”
Williams said of the recipients, “Great educators never stop learning. Your passion for professional growth inspires others and helps create brighter beginnings for every child you serve.”
