Fair Bluff’s Riverwalk is slowly but surely being brought back to its original grandeur.
Volunteers from the Chamber of Commerce, including Doug Beshaw and Jay Huggins, spent several days replacing and repairing boards along the walkway last week. A contractor ius also wrapping up work on the bandshell.
The Riverwalk was seriously damaged in by several floods as well as storms.
The mile-long elevated boardwalk allows access to the Lumber River as well as the surrounding green space. It’s a popular destination for bird and wildlife watchers, as well as fisherman and hikers. There are benches along most of the shaded walk and the Riverwalk is completely handicapped accessible.
The Riverwalk was built as part of efforts to rejuvenate downtown Fair Bluff and take advantage of its location to promote eco-tourism in the area.
