Freedom Fest drew big crowds to the Veterans Memorial Park of America near Whiteville Saturday, as America honored its 250th birthday on July 4.
The VMPA honors all military veterans and first responders, and features monuments to those who served in every conflict. The event honored our nation’s heroes with several local musical guests, a kids military obstacle course from the Sheepdog Foundation, food, venders, and other events for the family.
The ceremony started with the National Anthem and the raising of all flags during the 250 years of our great nation.
Angela Norris said the park is continuing to grow, and more features will be added in the near future. The Veterans Service Center hosts Veterans Benefits Administration visits every month and is a meeting place for veterans groups.
The Park is wheelchair accessible and designed to provide a family-friendly atmosphere and peaceful environment. The VMPA strives to promote patriotism, freedom, and to preserve the defending of our great nation.
The Park is located on U.S. 701 just south of Whiteville, and is open seven days a week.
