Here’s today’s Bottom Line
The oppressive heat is back for an encore performance today, Friday, and at least Saturday as high pressure ridges back into the area. Thunderstorm chances for the next few days are nearly zero. By Sunday, though, and definitely early next week, moisture will be back in place sufficient to support scattered thunderstorms. Heat index values will probably reach advisory criteria for the next several days.
Tropics: The NHC is monitoring an area in the northern Gulf or off the southeast coast. An upper-level low may develop which could form a surface low. This could develop into something tropical in nature. Working against this, though, is the proximity to land, shear, and a rather inhospitable environment. NHC gives it 0%/20% chance for formation through 7 days. Truthfully I don’t think it’s going to be anything to lose sleep over.
