Whiteville Police are investigating after a body was found in an abandoned car Friday.
WPD Chief Paul Rockenbach said the body was found in the 300 block of West College Street around 2 p.m.
The State Bureau of Investigation assisted with the crime scene, the chief said, and WPD Criminal and Narcotics Investigations unit is investigating.
The individual’s name is being withheld pending notification of kin, Rockenbach said. He did not say whether the deceased was male or female, or how long the person was believed to have been in the car.
