A former Columbus County pastor facing sex offense charges has been arrested for embezzlement.
Devin Cyrus Carroll, 23, of 428 Royal Arch Dr., Conway, S.C., was placed under $75,000 secured bond, charged with 10 counts of embezzlement.
Carroll is alleged to have taken $43,896 Happy Home Baptist Church during his tenure there. Most of the money he took for his own use was to be paid to Advance America mortgage company, according to the warrants. Payments ranged from $2,900 to $9,900 and were taken over the course of several months. Smaller amounts of $134, $188 and $653 were also allegedly embezzled for miscellaneous items, the warrants said.
Carroll was arrested in July 2025 on a single charge of third degree sexual conduct with a minor, Conway Police said. That case is still pending trial.
Carroll was pastor of Happy Home from May 2024 until July 2025. He also previously worked at Conway Middle School as an in-school suspension supervisor.
He is alleged to have touched the 13-year-old victim in the privates, warrants show. The victim and parents contacted Conway Police May 29 to report the assault, which allegedly occurred at school. Carroll resigned from the school June 7, 2025. He was released on $30,000 secured bond in that case.
