Investigators have arrested a fourth suspect in $100,000 theft ring that spanned three counties.
Matthew Wayne Hurst, John Michael McDonald, Shayna Logue, and Joseph Reinhart all face multiple felonies in the case, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.
The release said the suspects committed multiple larcenies in Bladen, Columbus and Robeson counties.
The four allegedly stole tools, extension cord, trailers, nail guns, air compressors and tools. They also allegedly removed a sticker from one trailer and spray painted the trailer black and gray in an attempt to change its appearance. McDonald and Hurst allegedly used a grinder to alter the serial numbers on the trailer.
Investigators executed a search warrant on Peacock Road near Chadbourn, where they recovered the stolen property, the release said.
Hurst, 33, with addresses in Whiteville and Tabor City was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit felony larceny and altering serial numbers. He was held without bond, the release said. Warrants show he is awaiting trial on charges of trafficking in crystal methamphetamine in a Bladen County case.
Logue, 30, of 6965 Peacock Rd., Chadbourn was arrested on July 29 and charged with possession of stolen goods, two counts of felony conspiracy to commit larceny, two counts of felony larceny, larceny after breaking and entering, damage to property, obtaining property by false pretense, breaking and entering to a motor vehicle with theft. Logue was released on a $5,000 bond.
McDonald, 35, with a Loris address as well as 6965 Peacock Road, was charged with three counts of failure to appear on misdemeanor, two counts of failure to appear on felony, possession of stolen goods, obtaining property by false pretense, two counts of conspiracy to commit felony larceny, two counts of felony larceny, larceny after breaking and entering residential and vehicle, and damage to property. He was held without bond. He was also arrested July 29.
Reinhart, 35, was taken into custody by the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office. He was charged with felony larceny, felony conspiracy to commit larceny. He listed a Garland address on court documents.
