Here’s today’s Bottom Line
A cold front will crawl its way across the state through the weekend. This, combined with deep tropical moisture pushing northeast over the Carolinas, will lead to the development of scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms, coming in multiple rounds. There is a level 1 risk for severe thunderstorms this afternoon, with damaging winds being the primary threat with that. The bigger concern is the potential for localized flash flooding with slow-moving torrential storms. Showers and storms may repeatedly move over the same locations. The potential exists that some locations pick up 6-8+ inches of rainfall while others receive comparatively little.
Shower/storm threat continues on Saturday with localized areas of flooding once again.
Front pushes offshore by later Sunday afternoon, wrapping up the shower and storm threat. Bermuda high pressure then takes hold and brings heat and humidity much of next week.
TROPICS: Tropical Storm Dolly will continue to push fairly quickly westward. She will encounter hostile atmospheric conditions, and the NHC forecast is for the storm to eventually dissolve into a tropical wave.
