A deputy checking on a stopped car in the roadway seized a firearm and a vehicle Tuesday morning.
Larry Dewayne Berry, 35, was held under $3,000 secured bond, according to detention center records. He was charged with resisting an officer, carrying a concealed weapon, and served with a warrant for failure to stop for a school bus. His address was listed as 3595 Swamp Fox Hwy. West, Tabor City.
A deputy on patrol spotted Berry’s Chevrolet Cruze parked in the roadway, the report said, and stopped to check on the driver. Berry refused to cooperate with the deputy, and began resisting, the report said. After he was taken into custody the deputy found a 9mm Springfield handgun, ammunition and two knives concealed in the vehicle, the report said.
The car was towed and Berry booked into the Detention Center.
