Robinson is New County Manager

Jason Robinson is the new manager for Columbus County.

Commissioners announced at Monday’s meeting that Robinson will begin work Oct. 26.

Robinson retired earlier this year from the town of Chadbourn after two years there. He told commissioners Monday that his heart is in county government, and he is looking forward to the new role. He has more than 18 years in local governments, including stints as the interim manager in Yancey and Stanley counties.

Eddie Madden resigned from the post earlier this year, and returned to the City of Elizabethtown.

Robinson with receive $135,000 per year under the two-year contract. He will also receive four weeks vacation, and the same health benefits as county employees.
