Deputies are seeking a woman who allegedly broke four windows on a City of Whiteville truck, damaged the windshield, assaulted a man and fled into South Carolina.

The sheriff’s office reported that Travis Faulk, the city’s public works director, called 911 after the unidentified woman allegedly scratched him and took a hammer to the truck. Faulk told deputies he knows the woman.

While deputies were leaving the residence on Reaves Ferry Road in Nakina, they spotted the suspect vehicle on Seven Creeks Highway and gave pursuit. The driver refused to stop for blue lights and sirens, and speeds reached more than 80 miles per hour. They stopped the pursuit after the woman entered South Carolina.

Charges are pending and the investigation is continuing.
