November 21, 1932 ~ October 23, 2021 (age 88)
Richard Mack Barfield, age 88 of the China Grove Community in Chadbourn, passed away on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at Lower Cape Fear Angel House in Whiteville.
Mack was born on November 21, 1932, to the late Fred Novak Barfield and Blanche Ethel Nobles Barfield. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Anita White Barfield and a sister, Thetis Barfield Nobles.
Mack honorably served his country in the US Army and for the past 16 years he also worked for Columbus County manning the China Grove Recycle Center.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 25, 2021 at China Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Wendell Ray and Darrell Harrison officiating.
A committal service will be held at the China Grove Baptist Church Cemetery following the service.
Mack leaves behind his children, Deborah Barfield (David) of Chadbourn, Doreen Nance (Jimmy) of Chadbourn, Donna Boswell (Tony)of Rocky Mount, Fred Barfield (Jennifer) of Myrtle Beach, SC; a sister, Sudie Barfield Wright of Yadkinville; as well as seven grandchildren, L.J. Barfield, Jessica DiCicco, Casey Small, Alicia Mitchell, Kayla Dodson, Adam Seay, and Joushua Nance (preceded) and nine great-grandchildren, Ava, Liam, Ayden, Hanna, Sadie, Amelia, Kaley, Ian, and Nevaeh; and many loving nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to the Lower Cape Fear Lifecare Angel House and a special thanks to Lisa Watts and Megan Cartrette for the loving care shown to our father during illness at his residence.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Center, 207 Warrior Trail, Whiteville, NC 28472.
