Chadbourn Police Investigate Three Shootings

• No one was injured, but homes and vehicles were damaged.

Chadbourn Police are investigating a series of shootings that occurred between 6:30 and 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Police Chief Ken Elliot said no one was injured, but two homes and several vehicles sustained damage.

The first call came in around 6:15 p.m. from the 300 block of South Wilkes Street, Elliot said. Someone opened fire on a home, hitting both the house and several vehicles. Officers were still securing that scene when the second shots fired call was reported.

Around 7:15 p.m., Elliot said, there was a shots fired call involving vehicles at the intersection of South Brown and Smith streets.

“We didn’t find a vehicle, and no structures were damaged,” he said. “No one was hurt there, either. Investigators found several shell casings.”

The final call came less than a half-hour later, when residents of a Broadway road home reported multiple gunshots. The home was hit several times, Elliot said.

Elliot encouraged anyone with information about the shootings to call Sgts. Corey Bethea or T.J. Lovett at 910.654.4146.

“Any information can be helpful,” Elliot said. “Even if you think we already have some information, let us know. We appreciate our citizens stepping up to help in cases like this. We need public input.”
