The N. C. Museum of Natural Sciences in Whiteville is back in the swing with the start of ornithology (study of birds) season.

The facility will be hosting a Build a Birdhouse program on Saturday, Feb. 19, at 11 a.m.

Children ages 5-12 years old are invited to this outdoor event to build, decorate, and take home a birdhouse of their very own. The purpose of the project is to allow youngsters to observe birds in their own backyard. The program is part of EcoEXPLORE, the free citizen science program for kids,  so there is no charge to participate.

The program is limited to 20 participants so those who are interested in attending should sign-up as soon as possible. Email vicki.dimuzio@naturalsciences.org to reserve your child’s spot. You can also learn about the program by visiting www.ecoexplore.net.
