Chadbourn Police have charged a woman with felony intentional child abuse after her baby was born addicted to narcotics.
Brandy Nichole Sikes, 31, of 200 Batten Burney Rd., Whiteville, was arrested April 27 on warrants drawn by Ptl. C. Bethea of the Chadbourn Police. She was held under a secured bond.
Warrants show that Sikes allegedly provided “various narcotics” to her one year old child, who had to be treated for withdrawal. The incident was reported in early March and had been under investigation.
Sikes was released on $5,000 secured bond.
