Detectives found four children with easy access to a sawed-off shotgun and narcotics in a Jan. 26 investigation, and have since arrested the children’s mother.
Victoria Noyola, 27, with addresses on Hallsboro Road South and Happy Home Road, was taken into custody Feb. 26 in a traffic stop, according to the sheriff’s office. She was charged with four counts of misdemeanor child abuse, misdemeanor failure to store firearm to protect minor, felony trafficking in cocaine, felony maintaining a dwelling to keep/store a controlled substance, felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell, deliver marijuana, and felony possession of a weapon of mass destruction. Noyola was held under a $310,500 secured bond.
The sheriff’s office said Vice-Narcotics Investigators were working on an unrelated case when they developed information about Noyola. At her home on Hallsboro Road South, the officers found four small children, a sawed-off 12 gauge shotgun, marijuana, cocaine, scales, packaging material and scales. Roughly 183 grams of marijuana and 76 grams of cocaine were confiscated.
The weapons and drugs were found in rooms with the children, according to a press release.
Agents contacted Noyola by telephone, but she refused to come home and hung up on the investigator,” the release said. The Department of Social Services was contacted to take care of the children.
One month later, on Feb. 26, Noyola was arrested during a traffic stop at Ramsey Ford Road and N.C. 905 in Nakina.
The sheriff’s office said the investigation is continuing.
