After much hard work and dedication, Coastal Horizons has launched their mobile mental health clinic in Columbus County. Plans for the unit began coming together earlier this year.
The office on wheels is being funded by federal and state dollars contracted through Trillium Health Resources, but the ultimate goal to eventually make it self-sustainable with billable services. Coastal Horizons will target key areas and a regular schedule has been set with locations in Columbus and Brunswick counties.
“We won’t be responding to emergencies, but we want people to know that services will be close by in the community,” said Kenny House, Vice President of Clinical Services.
Services include assessments for substance use and mental health, psychiatric medication management, individual therapy, peer support services, and medications assisted treatment.
“We feel that this is essential to Columbus County residents whose needs aren’t being met by expanding expertise into mobile care,” said House.
On Mondays, the unit can be found at the Riegelwood Community Park, and on Tuesdays, folks can receive care at the Fresh Foods IGA in Chadbourn. Wednesdays, the Facts of Life Church in Whiteville will provide parking for the mobile clinic, and on Thursdays, the Waccamaw Siouan Tribal Grounds will serve as its host. On Fridays, the Navassa community can bring patients to the Town Hall over in Brunswick County.
