An “outside agency” will investigate whether there was fault when a child got left on a school bus last week.
A mechanic found a sleeping child on a school bus at Williams Township May 15, the county schools said. The child was unharmed, and escorted to class. The bus driver was later disciplined by the school administration for apparently failing to walk through the bus, as is required by policy.
Sheriff Bill Rogers said in a press release this morning that school staff contacted the resource officer stationed on campus, and all other buses were checked. School administrators then contacted the child’s mother, who filed a report with the sheriff’s office May 16.
District Attorney Jon David opted not to prosecute the case, the press release said. Rogers then made the decision to ask an “outside agency” to investigate, the press release said. The sheriff’s office did not specify what agency was being asked to assist. The results of that investigation are pending.
