Citizen complaints led to the arrest of an alleged crack cocaine dealer near Whiteville on Thursday, according to the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office.
Broadus Jerome Justice, 48, with addresses of Wayne’s Way and 3445 Red Store Rd., Whiteville was held under $110,000 secured bond, detention reports show. He was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, trafficking in cocaine, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver cocaine and marijuana, maintaining a place for drug activity, and drug paraphernalia.
Vice Narcotics detectives recently began looking into complaints about traffic on Wayne’s Way, off Pine Log Road, a press release said. Residents had reported high volumes of suspected drug activity in the area.
Surveillance indicated that crack cocaine was being sold from the home, the report said.
On Feb. 8, detectives executed a search warrant on the home, and found nearly two ounces of cocaine, marijuana, and a handgun with a high capacity magazine. Justice was inside when the home was raided, the report said.
“The collaboration between the citizens and the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office has resulted in a united front against the distribution of harmful narcotics, safeguarding our communities from their detrimental effects,” Sheriff W.A. “Bill” Rogers said in the press release.
